Home » About Us » About Optimum

Our mission is to help preserve the iconic beauty of the Dumfries and Galloway region by contributing to a greener and more sustainable future through championing the installation of quality renewable energy heating systems.

We are a family run business and our vision is to design and install efficient and reliable renewable energy heating systems in a region where local accredited heat pump installers are scarce.

Drawing on over 16 years’ experience in the renewable energy sector, we focus on a ‘quality over quantity’ service. We are committed to the design and installation of the most energy efficient heating systems, optimised to our customers’ homes and workplaces. This ensures they remain warm and cosy year-round while saving on energy bills and contributing to the environment.

Covering a large area of the Southwest of Scotland including South Ayrshire, Newton Stewart, Kirkcudbright, Gatehouse of Fleet, Castle Douglas, Stranraer and the rest of Dumfries and Galloway we are dedicated to ensuring that we offer the very best customer service.

Meet the Team

Andrew Peden – Director

Andrew’s passion for renewable energy heating systems began in Queenstown, New Zealand where he lived for 7 years before coming home to settle in Newton Stewart, Dumfries and Galloway.

While working as a foreman for a heating company in New Zealand Andrew refined his heat pump knowledge installing state of the art heat pump systems into both new build and existing homes as well as several exciting multimillion-dollar projects.

Bringing his passion for renewable energy home to Dumfries and Galloway with him, Andrew strives to educate our customers on the benefits of switching to a heat pump heating system to both pocket and environment.

Georgie Peden – Administrator

Originally from Bristol, Georgie fell in love with the Dumfries and Galloway region while on a short visit with Andrew from New Zealand. The pair decided to make the life changing move home.

As the business has expanded and the paperwork requirements increased in line with being an MCS accredited company, Georgie now works full time in the office.

Georgie says ‘we love where we live – both the community feel and beautiful surroundings were a big draw for us, through working in renewable energy I feel I am making a positive contribution to the environment’.

During their down time Andrew and Georgie can often be found enjoying long hikes and have covered a large chunk of the region with their dog Archie.

Liam Brawls – Heating Engineer

Liam has lived in Dumfries and Galloway all his life and has been a qualified heating engineer for 9 years, completing his apprenticeship upon leaving school.

Liam enjoys keeping fit and team sports, he has played for Newton Stewart Rugby Club for many years holding the role of team captain throughout the most recent gruelling but successful season.

Liam has been honing his heat pump installation skills since starting with Optimum in 2021 and more recently has been confidently managing jobs.

Aiden Rennie – Apprentice

Aiden grew up in Creetown and now lives in Newton Stewart.

He also likes to keep fit and is a keen runner, he will be running the Glasgow half marathon this year to fundraise for Children’s Hospice Across Scotland, he is often up early getting the miles in and can’t be missed in his bright running gear!

Aiden began his apprenticeship with Optimum in 2021, he is flying through his course achieving good grades and his installation skills are developing all the time.

Zak Service – Apprentice

The newest member of our team, Zak has grown up in Kirkcowan. After leaving school he headed off to work for Camp America and on his return picked up full time employment in the manufacturing sector while looking for an apprenticeship opportunity.

Zak impressed us with his work ethic and ability to pick things up quickly. Zak will formally start the plumbing and heating engineer apprenticeship in August attending college in Dumfries two days a week.

Like the rest of the team, Zak is also a keen sportsman, he enjoys keeping fit playing in defence for Newton Stewart football club.
